A couple of years ago, a neighbor gave me some hay to use as compost. It had been sitting in his barn for at least 10 years. I didn't have room for it all, so dumped 15 bales, or so, onto a brush pile I was planning to burn. The cows decided that they liked the flavor, and polished it off before I had a chance to light it.
