The "No Rifle" thing never made any sense to me. I could go out all summer and shoot woodchcucks in open fields with my .223, 22/250 or .243 but come deer hunting time, no way could we use a rifle. So I went to a Contender and took several deer with a Contender in 6.5 JDJ and .375 Winchester Magnum. They can shoot as far and about as accurately as a rifle.
Now we can use rifles for deer hunting. If I"m hunting the woods. I use my NEF in 45/70. If I"m going to be where there might be longer shots, I use my Stevens 200 in .308.
A lot of this crazy, anti-rifle legislation originally came from input by groups who didn"t know what they were talking about.
