ASSUMING the cub is still the original 6v system, on my '48 cub, it has asmall clip holding the top cover in place over the battery, remove that and pull the cover foward about an inch, then remove it, the positive cable is the ground on the 6v system, remove the cable from the battery then remove the negetive cable from the battery, the sides of the battery box can then be lifted up and removed, then remove the battery
