Just met up with a Florida-park neighbour from Indiana and he told me about his episode in September with chipmunks. Seem he was overrun this past summer so he decided to trim down their numbers. He pulled out a .22 and found his eyesight wasn't as good as it used to be, as he couldn't pick any off from his front semi-enclosed porch. So he goes and gets his 12 gauge. He lines up a shot and picks one off, but, the BOOM in the porch snapped both of his eardrums! He said he heard them snap, then nothing. No sound at all. He's now got two hearing aids and seems to be coping very well.
