I ease off the gas when someone begins to tailgate me, hoping they get the idea and pass or back off. If they continue to tailgate me, or just get closer, I make the decision to clean the windshield. I give it a good washing too. About 10 or 15 seconds of wiper fluid washing the windshield and blowing back onto the tailgater usually makes them back off especially if their car is newly washed.
