I Do know of one abandonment right close by that was denied. The second farm east of me lays partially in the village limits. Way back when,the owner platted it and subdivided it so his kids could build on it inside the village limits. Part of it was swamp and unbuildable,but one of the "roads" in the subdivision ran through the swamp. After he had sold all the buildable lots to his relatives,he went to the village council and asked that the road through the swamp be abandoned. They were all set to do it until one member said well.....we might need that someday to run utilities or something,so the whole council voted to deny the abandonment.
