If he left a phone number - call him. Usually if people are willing to talk to you on the phone, its not a scam. Tell him to bring the CASH with him and come down and see it.
I have sold a lot of stuff on Craigslist. When I first started selling, I didn't put my phone number on the ad. From time to time, I would get E-mails from someone willing to buy whatever I was selling, without actually coming out to see the item. They would contact me later to "arrange for shipping". I would E-mail them back giving them my phone number and asking for theirs. I would never hear from them again. Since then, I always put my phone number in the ad and I specify "no-E-mails please". I never respond to any E-mails. I have never had a problem since then. The first one in my yard with the cash, gets the goods.
