Bob, I've been home and had dishwasher screw up, washer screw up, water heater, and plumbing leaks. Daughter's wash machine leaked while they were home. They need to replace the carpet and hard wood floor.
Yes turning things off while your are not home is a good idea. I think there is still a need for an auto turn off that works all the time, home or not. A little water can do a lot of damage too. George
