I did that for years, it did not mold because the gasket was shot. Stored chicken goat and hog feed. A couple of years ago I replaced it with two 55 gallon metal drums with lids, much easier to open and close and keep clean. The hinges had come loose on the freezer and I had put on door hinges and then they came loose after a while. Basically the door was too heavy to be very handy, but this was a very old freezer, a modern one might be better. Zach
