In the 80's when we were having problems with terrorism in Germany (car bomb, PX parking lot, Rein Main Air Base 3 days before my wife and kids arrived at Rein Main AB among other attacks) the Army issued a directive that commanders should allow soldiers to grow their hair out a little so that soldiers would not be targets easily ID'd as targets, I got a high and tight flat top that I kept until I retired in 96. I felt/feel that by giving in we gave them a small victory. I feel the same way about "happy" with holidays. We are giving the atheists and Muslims a small victory.
So even though I too am a Baa Humbug guy I say Merry Christmas in a loud voice and really hope I offend someone! Last time I looked nothing in the Constitution or Bill of Rights gives you the right not to be offended. But I gives me the right of "freedom of self expression"!
