I went on a long search last year for high amp 12 volt power ports and plugs. Mainly because I had two houses to wire with 12 volt systems.
I was surprised to find out there is actually a UL Standard for low-voltage cigarette-lighter power-ports. Especially when OEM in motor vehicles. It is very complicated - but in general limits 12 volt outlets of this type to 20 amps at 12 volts (i.e. a minimum of 12 gauge copper wire).

I gave up on the typical power-port idea and used 240 volt outlets and plugs usually used for AC. They are allowed by code for low voltage DC wiring under certain conditions.
