more than that out of one of these receptacles. In short, look at
the size of the wire of that which you plug into it. If you have a
short run you really don't have to have any larger wire size than
the load....but I like some cushion.

Keep in mind that a cigarette lighter is used seldom and the
average work load is very very low. The average work load is
what heats wiring up, not short spurts of 2x, 3x normal rating.
If in doubt, grasp the wire with your hand and if it feels warm
after it has been supplying power for 15 minutes roughly, your
wire is too small.

I am not competing with John, just trying to give you a different
perspective. I made my living as a EE too.
