I had a 1989one ton F350 crewcab dually with all the gas burning bells and whistles, but it was garbage. The transmission started to go and then the giant 460 engine started to lose oil pressure. I tried selling it as a fixer upper, as it did have promise, but nothing. A young man came by, I knew his brother and mom. He said he would trade me a 504 International for it. He was honest about the tractor being in need of serious overhaul as well. Since the landlord was leaning on me to get the truck gone, he even offered to take the truck, and I could get the tractor when I was ready to go back to Tenn. It all sounded good. He got the truck and about a year later when I went to pick up my tractor with a trailer, it was gone. It took a day to find the fellow, but surprise, he made it right. He still wanted the truck and was about to put a new engine and tranmission in it. He asked if I would accept a Case 990 in place of the other tractor. The case was running, and while it does need some work is overall a nice diesel tractor. Some people are relatively honest.
