Funny I've always heard (right or wrong) that many of the origional slaves were actually brought in through Canadian ports. In that case wouldn't the ones here in the US be African/Canadian/Americans???? In my opinion your either an American or your not, regardless of your color...unless you actually hold a dual citizenship to the second conutry, where ever it happens to be.
