You'll notice on Walmart's car batteries, there is a free three year replacement. On the free three year replacement batteries, nowhere does it say anything beyond three years. Because of the price, people assume there is a longer warranty.
Last time I had one replaced, a Walmart employee told me the average life of their three year free replacement batteries is 38 months. In other words, they're expected to croak about two months after the free replacement ends.
