Nope. I've never made any attempts at leather-work, stiching, etc. Had to fix a few saddles and let my wife do that. She makes historic clothing and good at that sort of thing. Only "do it yourself" kits of any kind that I've bought were Heathkits years ago - to make my own shortwave transmitter, receiver, etc.
If you want "el cheapo" do what the girl did in the newest True Grit movie. She had to pay a nickel for that flour sack to carry her gun and that was a LOT of money then.
