I just started up my coal stove this afternoon. I always wait for the forecast to be cold because the coal stove doesn't throttle down too well, and kind of like the old tractors you have to start them on wood and then slowly switch it over to coal. Cleaning and starting for the season takes a little better than an hour, but there is no working up to be done and so it saves a lot of time but doesn't cost any more. I get to spend the time with my tractors instead of firewood LOL.
