IT is usual for a new motor to use oil for a while. Try not to idle the motor for long periods until you have a few hundred hours on it. Also if you can make it work hard for a while it will help the rings to seat. Even just driving it up a bigger hill to make it pull will work. Also ask your mechanic if he put break-in oil in it. IF so it will make the motor use more until it is broke in. If he put regular oil in then I would run it until 50 hours and then change it out with your normal oil.
