Typical homeowner junk that ends up costing more to fix than to replace with another piece of "new" junk. Just about everything made for the "consumer" nowadays is that way. Don't care what brand you buy.
If you're looking for something more durable, look into a Grillo or BCS walk-behind tractor. They're Italian made and quite expensive, but your grandkid will be running it long after you're gone.
I fought a few junkers -yardmans, craftsnmans, even troy bilts - before I bought my first BCS. I kept upgrading (never junked them, just resold them for as much or more than I bought 'em for) until I got to my current machine - a BCS 850 with 10 HP Kohler Diesel and 30 inch tiller box. I especially like the rotary plow they offer. This thing is just about unstoppable.
