Around here, there is a hay auction every thursday where farmers bring their hay on a wagon, it's sold there, and then the buyer either loads it onto his own wagon/truck/trailer, or hauls it home on that wagon, unloads it at his place and brings the wagon back to the lot by Sunday so the empty wagon can be picked up by it's owner.
It's held through Equity, who has several auction barns throughout the area.
