You might want to research this topic on the Ford board archives. There have been numerous discussions about this topic.
If you try to pull the wheel off by brute strength, pulling with your whole body, leave the nut on several threads. So when the wheel lets loose from the shaft, you don't go flying over the back of the tractor with the loose wheel in your hands. Apparently this has happened before, and people say it really hurts when you land.
I would think that using a puller could work if you put something like a bearing separator on the shaft below the wheel for the puller arms to hook to. Good luck!
