Common sense says you've given this guy plenty of chances and plenty of fair warning. Legally I think you need to give him an official notice that he has 30 days.
Hopefully you have proof of the date that the transaction took place.
I assume your "contact" has all been through email. Do you have a phone number? CALL him. I will never understand why so many of you guys get all shy when it comes to using the phone.
If you've called and emailed, send him a bill for storage, with a monthly rate that figures out to exactly $400, and a notification that if he picks up the machine within 30 days, the fees will be waived. Also state that if the machine is not picked up, he forfeits all rights to ownership.
