Way back when the retube of Pickering A was performed by the Hydro Construction local 1788. Units 1 & 2 took 2-1/2 years, the first time any Candu had ever been re-tubed. Unit 4 took 9 months from shutdown to a return to full power. How long did it take the NB and Bruce units? Then policy changed and the company decided to save money using outside contractors. A 800 million overhaul of all four Pickering A units grew to 4 billion and only two units operate. Bruce Power has been ripped off on the 1-2 restart by years and billions by scheming contractors. Back when Ontario Hydro performed their own maintenance. There was no incentive to delay overhauls.
