It's human nature to assume cause and effect. I've been on simvastatin for about three years and haven't noticed any problems with my memory, which wasn't great to begin with.
According to this Scientific American article, there is some anecdotal evidence of memory problems connected to statin use, but the studies have been inconclusive. I wouldn't be too concerned about it if I were you, but you should probably mention it to your doctor on your next visit.
