Just remember...the GOVERNMENT is operated by the REPRESENTATIVES that WE, THE PEOPLE have ELECTED to stand in for us...and that government agnecies are staffed by people HIRED AND APPOINTED by the REPRESENTATIVES of WE, THE PEOPLE.
So maybe WE, THE PEOPLE have voted in the wrong representatives...? And these representatives have appointed and hired in the wrong people to write proposed legislation...?
Meaning, of course...that, in our form of representative government WE, THE PEOPLE have screwed up...because the buck actually stops at THE VOTERS. Because, in America, the "government" actually IS "WE, THE PEOPLE." And the majority generally has their way...been that way for well over 220 years [basing that span on the adoption of the Constitution in 1789], best I can tell.
So if the government is doing something stupid....well, apparently the people who are voting are stupid as well.
