It depends entirely on the oil you're using. Stihl oil is conventional oil and Amsoil is fully synthetic. I know guys who've run Optimal at 100:1 without any problems and it's a conventional oil. Running too much oil is actually worse than not enough. Obviously you need some but too much actually leans the mixture out because it does not burn the same as gasoline. Too much will also foul plugs really easy.
