Back in 1980 I took a new job in Cedar Falls. The wife and infant son stayed in Albert Lea and I was home only on weekends for about 6 months. One morning when the switchboard opened I got a frantic call from her. She said the car (1970 Malibu coupe) tried to start itself and kept on cranking until the battery went dead. The dog woke her. She got a neighbor to disconnect the ground cable and then put my charger on the battery. Later I found out that the relay for the neutral safety switch had temporarily shorted because of the high humidity. That was a pain to diagnose as are all intermittent problems. It could have just as well been a fire.
