The wife and I lived in Germany for 2 years when I was stationed at the Army Aviation Maintenance Center, at Mannheim. Power, in government Appt. was 220 volts. We purchased transformer box's to run our U.S. appliances.We still have a huge Grundid stereo, that has a switch on the back for 120/220, and, when sold to an american,came with an extra drive pully for the turntable as the motor ran at a different speed on german 50 cycle A.C. versis U.S. 60 cycle.
