I've got excellent 00 cables and the starter was just rebuilt the other day. It about spins right off the bench with the 12 volt bench test. It's just a 4 cylinder and I took the battery out of a 6 cylinder 6 volt tractor that starts just fine,so I know that battery is good. I left the charger on that one all night and it still only rolls once, then I have to let off and hit the button again. I've touched all the connections, nothing's hot. Only trouble with changing the fields in this one,it doesn't have wires from the fields to the lug,it has 2 brass bars that are soldered to the lug,and the rebuilder said he checked that out real good. Anyway.....the 12 volt that I have here off a newer tractor, which isn't drilled for that type regulator,I believe has wires from the fields. That might kinda complicate the process.
