There was an item on Tele where a Family had the same problem and members in each generation would succumb for no reason. A research team studied the Families and found a defective gene was responsible although it did not appear in all members. They were then able to repair the gene so the living and future Families would be free of the uncertainty. which I thought was a marvellous piece of medical science.
