I've had one on my JD A for 3-4 years--no problems. Idles better, fouls plugs less, starts great. I replaced a good Wico X mag with the pertronix when I converted to 12V negative ground, so can't really compare it to points/delco distributor. This tractor gets used mainly to run a wood splitter and plow snow, not much field work.
