The stud on your mag won't run lights, it's there to ground the mag to stop the engine. If you want to run a generator or alternator JD made a split pulley that will attach to your fanshaft. Can't remember the part number, but you could look it up. If you don't want to run a generator and don't use the lights very often you could probably put a battery in the frame rails and hold it in place with a bungee. I mount an additional light on my 48 JD D with a magnet. Then you can move it and line it up where you want. That might work for you too.
