hayray nailed it in the previous post, those species work in wet conditions. Legumes generally will not make it if planted this late. Grass should be in the ground by Sept 30, sooner is better. The established grass will be difficult to get rid of,it has adapated to the site. Bare soil to seed contact will allow some new plant establishment. My experience with canarygrass is very difficult to establish. Timothy is good choice, but is not considered a grazing grass here. (Best for hay)
