Wow, I don`t know whether to be happy that hay is worth so much up here, sad that we pay so much more than the rest of the world for so many things, or feel sorry for those who are not used to paying such high prices. Here in Alaska $10 is a good going price for timothy or brome 50# squares, actually on the lower end of the price range, we are getting $10 in the barn for lesser quality hay from old fields we are opening back up, our neighbor is getting $11 a bale in the field of better stuff, up to $17 a bale at feed stores. I have seen 110# compressed bales of alfalfa go for $36 a bale.
