The boy was chopping corn today,and apparently the inside gathering belt on the CaseIH 781 was just loose enough to drop off the inside tightener. It ran right down over the rotary knife and cut it right up on an angle for about 2 feet until it came right out the top. Now,instead of a belt,I have a long strip of rubber with a beveled cut on each end. Looks like $243 on the CaseIH parts site. Then there's the half a day to go get it and another half a day to put it on. I really was dreading silo filling this year. It's little things like this that remind me why.
