Look if yer farming there is always something that needs done. Harvesting equipment that has to be gotten ready, fences to fix, pasture to mow ECT...ECT...ECT. You can find something to keep you busy that is ligament. Tell him you want that work yer willing to pay for done by a certain time and with other things you have to do right now you don't have time. Pay him a fair price! He will have a little work and you will be free to get something else done that needs doing anyway!
