I bought 2010 Rav4 4wheel drive about a month ago. It has a kind of "whoos" sound as it shifts from 1st to 2nd. It only last maybe a second or two and is not very loud but always there regardless of how hard you accelerate. I"ve never heard this kind of sound from an automatic before. It sounds like either the bands are not releasing from 1st completely or someone else mentioned maybe a oneway clutch or gear winding down before stopping. SOOOO my question is does anyone else hear the same noise?? When I took it in the tech said he had never heard that sound before, they had a " bigger" tech from a different store come over and he said it was normal in the tranny with 4x4. Funny that the local tech hadn"t heard it huh! Any help would be appreciated.
