This is in a 1977 chev heavy 3/4 ton 4x2. I had it apart last myself, it was a clean old truck from the west that we bought for a work truck. Two years ago it did the same thing, dropped out of third, but I think it still had reverse. All I could find was the gear on the governor was stripped, never seen that before, so I put a seal kit in it and gov. gear, it has worked perfect till now. So, out she comes and it will be interesting to see what is going on, I had put new seals in the direct clutch, thanks guys!!
