I have a 97 F350, single rear wheel, 4 door, long bed with the 7.3 diesel. Has the 4sp auto tranny. Does the one you're looking at have the 7.3 diesel? If it has the 6.0 RUN!! 6.0 diesels have lots of expensive problems.
I bought mine 2+ yrs ago. It had 97K miles on it. It has 157K now.
I've had no engine problems. I get 20 - 22 mpg not towing. Least I ever got was 10 mpg pulling 8,000+ through hilly terrain. It never seems to strain regardless of the load. Engine runs about 1750 rpm at 65.
I've been told the 7.3 diesels are very good engines (properly maintained of course). Maintenance on a diesel is more expensive than for a gas engine.
I did have to have the dual gas tanks dropped and cleaned because the former owner never put anything in them to dissipate condensation. My mechanic said each tank had 2 - 3 gals of water in it.
I have had some minor issues. Windshield washer doesn't work and gas gauges quit working a couple of months ago. Since cost of replacing the gauges runs about $300 and the truck has dual tanks, I just use the trip meter.
Truck has fairly comfortable seats and interior is roomy. Suspension on this one is very stiff. Former owner used it for recreation and had a large camper on it and beefed up the suspension (air shocks on the rear).
If you buy this truck, change out the power steering hose immediately. Original equipment is held in place with only an O ring. If you turn the wheel all the way and hold it, the pressure will blow the hose out of the coupling. BTDT
I paid $13,000 for mine, but that was two years ago and it was in excellent shape with very low mileage. That was probably more than it was worth, but I'd been looking for a truck for over a year and hadn't found anything newer in my price range that wasn't a piece of junk. I don't regret the purchase. I will be driving this truck a long time.

The first fleet arrived in 1788 and consisted mainly of convicts who were poorly equipped and new little of farming techniques. The colony remained far from self-supporting and it was not until the early 1800's that things started to improve. Free settlers started to arrive, they followed the explorers across the mountains and where land was suitable set up farms. T
