My guess would be mass air flow sensor or plugged exhaust.
I"m thinking the revving before it shifts is the computer delaying the upshift, because the exhaust is back pressuring. This would also explain the bogging down stuff.
Look closely for signs of head gasket issues, if it has the 3.1 or 3.4 and some miles on it, they can have issues. Antifreeze will kill the catalytic converter.
A dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor can do the same thing.
