Not trying to be funny at all, but since you are getting up there in maturity, you may consider keeping that thing adjusted and increase your following distance by 50 feet or so. You can't anticipate an idiot but you can give yourself a little more reaction time.............
Had a guy about 3 ft from my bumper yesterday when I was driving out of town. Stayed there til the end where cars were parked allowing only one thru at a time.
