I had a young fellow help me two summers back. He wasn't a rookie on bales, but I also put him work raking on the Fordson Major right away. He listened to all my instructions on how to operate and safely shut it down. I paid him $10/hour, and 1/3 of the work was on the tractor. I was looking forward to him helping out this summer, but he told me he charges $15 per hour. The worker isn't supposed to dictate the rate; I had to pass on him this year. If enough people around here do the same thing, maybe he'll be more affordable next summer. Jay
