Can"t give you any long term results since I have only owned my ?50? year old New Idea #19 spreader for the last 5 years. Previous owner had put new bottom and sides into it. Looks like it was white oak fence rails to me. My operation is similar to yours in that spreader sits until full then gets emptied. Been pressure washing at least annually and "painting" with used oil. So far so good as far as rot. I don"t expect it to last forever, but expect to be able to replace boards as needed or all at once in a fraction of the time I save by not moving manure twice.
