Neighbor bought a new spreader about the same time I did back in the early 80's.
He soaked his with oil every year. He also left his sit outside the farrowing house and added to it daily till it was full. Emptied it about twice a month.
It lasted about 8 years.
I always piled my pooh then loaded and dumped the same day.Then put the spreader back in the shed where it could dry. Mine got oiled as well.I still have that spreader with no signs of rot.
