Better to go a size larger than a size too small. Less stress on generator and motors while starting. Also less chance of damaging electronics with spikes, low voltage and low frequency. Fooling around with cords plugging and unplugging ends up with somebody forgetting about. Or walking on and unplugging the freezer or sump pump and creating a disaster. Going a size larger doesn't stress the generator with an overload and trip the breaker if somebody "forgets" and switches a load on.
