It's been proven that senior memory loss is not really memory loss but lack of imprinting. That's why you can remember things from long ago but not more recent things. The reason, in turn, for lack of imprinting is that older people are constantly having much deeper, more profound thoughts about much more complicated things than we did back in our thirties and forties. Thus it just stands to reason that it is much more difficult for some meaningless thing like where we parked the car to break through the constant complex thoughts that we are having.
