I'm fairly certain the Wisconsin on the Yazoo turns at a slower RPM than most later model mowers and that would greatly affect the performance of the shaft drive deck. Back in the 70's Howard Price got the rights to the old Yazoo and made basically the same design mower but with an Onan engine, shaft drive and hand operated hydrostatic drive. The Howard still used belts from the crankshaft to the drive shaft to power the deck. You tightened the belts to engage the blades. You'd need to figure out the right pulley set up to get the proper blade speed. I think it would be a pretty big job to convert to shaft drive but I don't a machine to look at. Used to have a Howard Price that belonged to a golf course. My dad sold it to the golf course new. He also sold Yazoo's when they were new. The Yazoo Master Mower was the first successful out front deck design mower.
