good luck we bought a 2nd 273 w/ 54A kicker a couple of years ago and had this exact problem our orig. 273 never, i mean never, breaks a bale for any reason...then we got a good deal on this b/c the guy thought it had knotter problems and we figured it would make a good parts baler... it wasn't knotter problems...it burned the twine off of every 3rd bale we had the 2 balers side by side and adjust the 2nd one so every clearance matched the first...tried short bales, long bales, more tension, less tension...no luck
heres what i learned
solution 1: use sissal twine instead of the poly...won't burn through that
solultion 2: shim the bale chamber so that the bales enter the kicker at a flatter or steeper angle depending on which belt is burning the twine
solution 3: get rid of baler and get one w/ a JD-style pan kicker...this is what we did...sold it to a guy who wasn't goingto use the kicker for a little more than what we paid for it and invested in a 311 w/ 72 thrower as our 2nd baler.
this may have been the most frustrating problem i have encountered in farm equip.
