I like the self checkout and prefer it most of the time. Grocery store, Home Despot, etc. Can't always use it - not handy for sheetrock, 2X10s and the like. But if I'm just there to get some sandpaper, a can of paint, a tool or some hinges I will use it over a live cashier. Saves time I think. I also like to buy my gas at the pump - especially at places where you have to prepay. Now if the cashier is blond and has, shall we say, some obvious talents then I prefer to go there.
