I had a simiular thing happen, I bought a rebuilt droid X off ebay a couple months ago, supposed to be factory rebuilt. They said its code was still active, but I explained everything as best as I could and after calling Verizon customer support three different times and talking to three different people, one of them deactivated it, and re-activated it for my account. Problem solved.
This phone looks new, and has been flawless for months, and im happy with it. Once I had it going, I didnt have a single complaint about it. I dont really think it was stolen, just because it was rebuilt, but I guess Ill never know. Oh well :)
